Our Core Services
What Makes Us Different
Our business is built on experience earned where leadership, judgement and safety matter most. Our background spans military operations, fire and rescue, and emergency services, giving us a practical understanding of how to lead people and manage risk in demanding, fast-moving environments.
We also bring specialist expertise in nuclear and high-hazard leadership, as well as fire safety enforcement at the highest level through a background with the UK Governments Crown Premises Fire Inspectorate. Combined with experience across global oil and gas, defence manufacturing, aerospace and anti-poaching operations in Africa, this gives us a broad yet deeply practical perspective on complex operations, regulatory expectations and resilient safety cultures.
We do not rely on theory alone. We apply proven insight to help organisations strengthen leadership, improve preparedness and make sound decisions when the stakes are high.
At the heart of our work is a commitment to building trusted, long-term relationships. We listen carefully, understand the unique needs of each organisation and consistently deliver meaningful value. By combining quality, expertise and great service, we help our clients grow, succeed and meet their challenges with confidence.
Fire Risk Assessments for Every Type of Business
Our Managing Director, Rick Charlton, brings extensive frontline and regulatory fire safety experience. A former firefighter tactical commander and fire safety enforcement officer, he was appointed as a Crown Premises Fire Inspector, enforcing fire safety standards across UK Government premises. His experience includes leading inspections of English prisons and auditing fire risk assessments for historic Royal Palaces, Security Service establishments and the Houses of Parliament. As former Deputy Chief Fire Officer for Sellafield Fire and Rescue Service, Rick also understands the complex fire safety challenges associated with high-hazard sites, including COMAH and DSEAR risks. He holds relevant post graduate qualifications and is a Fellow of the Institute of Fire Engineers (FIFireE)
Our assessors are NEBOSH qualified and are registered with the National Fire Risk Assessor Register (NFRAR) and conduct fire risk assessments for businesses and organisations of all types. We follow the recognised PAS 79 methodology, which provides a clear, structured approach to identifying fire hazards, assessing who may be at risk, and recommending practical measures to reduce both the likelihood and consequences of fire. Whether you operate an office, shop, warehouse, school, care home, restaurant, construction site or industrial premises, a suitable fire risk assessment can help protect your people, property and business.
Under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, most non-domestic premises in England and Wales require a suitable and sufficient fire risk assessment. Responsibility rests with the Responsible Person, who may be the employer, building owner, landlord, occupier or any other person with control of the premises. The assessment must identify fire risks, consider anyone who may need additional assistance in an emergency, and record significant findings where required. It should be reviewed regularly, particularly when there are changes to the building, its use, its occupants or working practices. Although PAS 79 is not a legal requirement, it is a widely recognised format for recording fire risk assessments clearly and consistently. Our assessments help you understand your responsibilities, prioritise essential improvements and demonstrate your commitment to fire safety.
Clear Advice and Ongoing Support – After your assessment, you will receive a clear, practical report detailing the hazards identified, those who may be affected and the actions that should be prioritised. We can advise on escape routes, fire alarms, emergency lighting, fire doors, signage, staff training and evacuation plans. Every recommendation is tailored to the risks at your premises, helping you direct your time and budget where they will have the greatest impact, while maintaining effective fire safety arrangements between formal reviews.
Confined Space Access Training for Industry
Rescue 3 Europe Confined Space Training
We provide Rescue 3 Europe confined space operator and rescue training, including confined space awareness courses, for organisations and individuals who need to work safely in or around confined spaces. Our training is designed to build practical knowledge and confidence, covering hazard awareness, safe systems of work, equipment use, emergency procedures and rescue responsibilities. Whether you require introductory awareness training or specialist operator and rescue instruction, we deliver clear, effective courses tailored to your operational needs.
Confined Space Rescue Teams for Industry
We provide dedicated confined space rescue teams to support industrial sites, projects and shutdowns across the UK. Our teams are made up of former blue-light emergency service professionals who bring practical experience, calm decision-making and specialist rescue skills to high-risk environments. Under the Confined Spaces Regulations 1997, employers must make suitable and sufficient arrangements for emergency rescue before anyone enters a confined space. Simply planning to dial 999 is not deemed sufficient by the Health and Safety Executive: public emergency services may not have the site-specific information, access arrangements, specialist equipment or immediate availability needed to carry out a safe confined space rescue within the required timeframe.
A compliant rescue plan must consider the particular hazards involved, including hazardous atmospheres, engulfment, restricted access, working at height and the need for specialist breathing apparatus or retrieval systems.
Contracted rescue capability gives industry a planned, site-ready response, with trained personnel, equipment and procedures aligned to the task and location. This can reduce risk to workers, prevent delays, minimise operational disruption and help avoid the significant costs associated with incidents, enforcement action, lost production and reputational damage. By placing experienced rescue professionals on standby or on site, businesses gain confidence that they are better prepared to protect their people and meet their legal responsibilities.
IOSH Behavioural Science for Safety Leadership
We are Cumbria’s only accredited provider of Darren Sutton’s Behavioural Science for Safety Leadership, delivered in partnership with BSST Ltd.
This practical course helps leaders understand why people behave as they do at work, and how leadership actions, workplace conditions and everyday conversations can influence safer decision-making. Participants explore the principles of behavioural science in a safety context, including how habits form, how people respond to risk, the impact of language and feedback, and how to create an environment in which teams feel confident to speak up, learn and improve.
The course equips managers, supervisors and safety professionals with clear, practical techniques for leading positive safety conversations, recognising good practice, addressing concerns constructively and strengthening safety culture. By applying these approaches, organisations can build trust, improve engagement, encourage personal ownership of safety and support more consistent, sustainable safety performance.
Our Managing Director brings extensive behavioural safety experience, having delivered human factors training to oil and gas drilling teams in Saudi Arabia’s Arabian Desert. Their experience also spans the defence and aerospace sectors, global pharmaceutical companies and upper-tier COMAH sites.
